  • 1. draw the head

Hey hey guys, welcome back to another drawing tutorial.

Today you will learn how to draw Nemo the clownfish.

Where to start… let’s sketch out the head of Nemo, and because he will be facing almost front on, this shape is going to look a little different than a normal fish drawing.

More like a rock actually… have faith guys!

  • 2. draw a pair of fins

To the sides of this shape we can draw two fish fins.

  • 3. then the eyes and mouth

And back in the centre, two wide circular eyes. Just a small space apart.

Our cartoon drawing is looking a bit more Nemo-ish, don’t you think?

How about if we sculpt the snout just to the right of one eye, that will round off Nemo’s face nicely.

Don’t worry too much about making the pencil lines perfect. You can always use an eraser to rub out any stray lines, like this.

And here comes that trademark smile of Nemo’s - not open wide like a shark or whale, but subtle and friendly.

  • 4. the detail on Nemo's body

Now pay close attention guys, this is where it gets a little tricky.

We need to draw on the clownfish pattern on Nemo’s head and body - which is a few stripes from top to bottom.

Ideally we need some space between the eyes and the side of the body to draw them in.

You can draw on as many stripes as you like.

    On the head and fins.

Speaking of fins, Nemo has a large one on his back which can be seen from the top of his head.

We can make this with a curved line poking out back.

Ok, going great so far guys.

This Is going to be an epic cartoon drawing of Nemo, just you wait.

The final pieces of our artwork… some detail in the eyes.

And a small fin down below.

    Excellent, we are finished!

  • 5. colour in your artwork

Hey guys, did you know that the clownfish, which is the species Nemo belongs to, lives all the way out in the Australian Ocean in a place called the barrier reef.

The barrier reef is actually shallow water and a very special place, where coral grows and lots of different marine life come to play.

The final part now, and that’s colouring in.

Use a black pen for the stripe markings and a bold orange for the rest of Nemo’s body. The brighter, the better.
